About Kathleen M. Duerksen, MD, FACS

Kathleen M. Duerksen, MD, FACS, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face and eyes, as well as tumescent body liposuction. She serves as Director of the annual International (AAO) Facial Fillers and Neurotoxin Physician Training Course.

During a consultation, it is my goal to listen and examine carefully, then fully explain the various treatment options — so that each person has the information they need to choose the care that is right for them. I enjoy both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, treating many patients with "baggy" and wrinkled eyelids, necks, and faces. In addition to surgery, I use lasers, fillers, and Botox for facial wrinkle and skin-surface improvement.

Botox has been part of my practice since 1988. Neurotoxins such as Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport are excellent for treating eyelid and facial wrinkles and spasms. I also offer a wide range of FDA-approved wrinkle fillers — including Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Voluma, Belotero, Restylane Silk, and Sculptra — to soften fine lines and restore facial volume that is lost as our natural collagen breaks down with age. Our office carries ZO, Obagi, and Nia24 skin-care products to help correct and protect the skin at the cellular level.

A portion of my practice is devoted to reconstructive plastic surgery after skin-cancer removal. I also correct malpositioned eyelids resulting from aging or trauma, and commonly diagnose and treat problems with excessive tearing. For liposuction and liposculpture, I use the tumescent technique — an outpatient procedure performed without general anesthesia, with little bleeding, minimal need for pain medication, and smoother, more symmetrical results.
